「自由大道」很難想像這麼陽光的名字，卻是一個這麼沈重的話題，看到那些受壓迫的心靈，心裡真的好難過，也為了他們付出的代價而心痛落淚。這部片子提醒我，身為一個社會工作者，要與這些還不能見容於社會的人們站在一起。就如同下圖NASW的海報所宣示的內容一樣，社會工作者需要具備好多：要有理想，也要有付諸行動的勇氣及智慧，有能力去扶持弱勢，也有能力去宣導倡議，才夠資格去包容接納不同的生命，完成社會進步創新的使命。看到這樣電影跟海報一樣，真的是一種好大的力量，提醒我該堅持的目標，也讓我對社會工作的愛及理想又被燃起，不要因為現實而磨損！如同MILK把那些受苦的人放在肩上，為他們站立，不管多少人顛倒是非，任意妄為，仍舊奮力帶給他們希望。
我真的很汗顏，也很自責，到現在為止，我都沒有為他們做過些什麼。從今天這部電影，我才感受到我的熱情仍然被教條、理智所禁錮著。我深深的愧疚，因為我的緘默，我的「潔身自愛」（？），其實是一種默許，袖手旁觀許多「沒有傷害別人的人」，或是「生來就只愛同性者」被迫害。有多少次我也很想要改變他們，期待他們有一天會突然醒過來，不要再做這些叛道離經（？）的事，有多少次我只是因為害怕別人（甚至是自己）的眼光，而不敢為他們發聲！片中那種似是而非的言論，就在一些教條主義的包裝之下，迫害著那些無辜的人。我自己再深沈一點去想像，若有一天我的面前出現了兩個－－男男，女女，相擁而吻，我是不是可以接受，或替他們高興？我不知道，我想我還需要再開闊一點，讓自己不要為他們憂愁。但是，人是相互尊重的，我相信我自己不會為了感覺不舒服，而否定他們生而為人的權利。
其實我跟片中的人一樣疑惑，基督徒憑什麼迫害同性戀者？ 神不是要我們愛別人如自己嗎？「同性戀者」沒有害過任何人，卻要躲躲藏藏，害怕別人的眼光，甚至被矯正。或許我們只是害怕跟我們不一樣的人，所以我們就把他們標籤起來，要不就把他們變成跟我們一樣，要不就把他們置於死地。難怪，感到他們就像二次大戰前的猶太人一樣，他們要把自己保護很好以免遭害！我很幸運，在生命中，除了白色恐怖還有一點點的記憶以外，很少被逼迫，但透過本片，卻可以深深的體會到他們的害怕，無力及絕望。這麼痛苦的狀況下，還要謹守自己的道德，維持自己在愛中生活，這是多麼不容易的事呀！我想太多的時候，因為距離及想像，讓我們害怕或抗拒別人。其實，不論是怎麼樣的人，當我們很近，很仔細的去看他們時，我們才會發現他們也就是人，跟我們一樣有人性，當然也有值得敬佩的地方。
美國獨立宣言中：人人都生而平等，廣泛的被引用，也是一切追求民主自由的政權的精神指標。自由及人權都不是只用來喊口號的，必需奠基於社會整體的正直善良才能實現。「同性戀者」他們又做錯什麼，神豈賦與我們審判的權柄了嗎？因為我們縱容所謂的正義的使者，神的傳人，假正義之名，行不法之事。我好慶幸我不是那種基督徒，主也最討厭只守規條律法，對人施逼迫、又自以為是的法利賽人。路11:46 耶穌說、 你們律法師也有禍了．因為你們把難擔的擔子、放在人身上、自己一個指頭卻不肯動。在這個混亂的世代，肩負這些使命，要繼續往前走，求 主賜給我足夠的智慧，保守我在真理的光中，不要墜入撒旦的網羅。也請你給我足夠的耐力，去肩負起你放在我心中的願望。阿門。
